Game caught my eye after a few of you forum members told me about it on MSN.

Anyone getting it this week? Anyone play the 360 demo?

guess i WONT be able to bum it off someone...

You can easily bum it off your friend. The game allows up to five different installs currently and you can expand that by authenticating old installs.

How many times do you guys install a game? I personally install a game at most 3 times and that's over a period of years.

The game is incredible. Seriously... just get it. Securerom is NOTHING like starforce. Starforce modified drivers and in some cases edited the system kernel... which is why it caused so many problems. Securerom on the other hand will at most install a system service. But will only do that if you have multiple accounts on the computer some of which aren't administrator level accounts. Basically the purpose of the service is to elevate securerom to administrator level even though you're not logged in on an administrator account. It has no rootkit or anything else that's really toxic.

The game design, story, gameplay, and graphics are worth your 43 dollars.

Often. Some games, like X-Com, I'm installed probably 50+ times!

Others, like Diablo II probably only 10+.

why?

why?

Because they're good games that I enjoy playing from time to time?

Don't forget, HD's large enough to just install a half dozen games that you tend to go back to from time to time only just came out recently -- and even then, a lot of people (myself included) like to wipe the OS from time to time, deleting everything on the HD. (Helps keep windows running smoothly, drivers and programs just tend to build up and weigh it down, even if you uninstall them they leave junk behind).

well, you can just unauthorize your old installs. So it seems like a moot point regardless. They're letting you have 5 active copies of your game at once. That's pretty good considering you only have one disk that will be required when you want to actually play.

I'm not defending this kind of copy protection. it seems excessive to me as well. I just don't see how it will actually effect me.

Well, they are planning on removing the limit "eventually" -- I think its more of a short term "don't pirate it while its hot" kinda thing. Hopefully, they'll remove Securom too, like Doom3 / Quake IV did.

meh... if it really bothers you can download the nocd crack that will come out eventually.

There's nothing wrong with using those so long as you actually bought the game. I've used them in the past to deal with damaged discs and such...

Or just get the D2D version

Yeah, but how do you reinstall them then?

By the time that's a problem for you they'll have disabled that part of the copy protection.

And even if they didn't, you can just unauthenticate old installs. It's really not that complicated.
