Random craziness from my brain, oh and stuff about games I play on Impulse and Steam.

The 8800GT 512MB card was released today, is anyone else getting one?

It pretty much beats anything under a 8800GTX, at the low cost of only $249.99

Infact , it actually runs as fast as a 8800GTX as long as you keep the resolution below 1600x1200, after that it on average is 8-12% slower than a GTX.

Its been compared to the price : value ratio of such great cards as the Ti4200 and the GeForce 7800GT

AnAndTech Review

Check out the 14 page anandtech review, it was amazing

I sold my 8800GTS 640 after a month of ownership and issues, and just ordered a 8800GT

HD3800, from what I hear

ATI is for jerks. I will never support them and their crazy product naming schemes, nVidia's weird "midrange" 8800GT name withstanding.

Still waiting for dx10.1.

I don't want a card that will be obsolete even faster than usual.

The talk that DX10 cards wouldn't be able to handle 10.1 games was mostly rumor. For the most part, 10.1 makes mandatory some things that were optional before, but the upper-range cards already did anyway.

Little more info

Basically, yeah, 10.1 won't make anything 'obsolete'. I think people are just reading that current DX10 cards won't be forward compatible and panic.
